Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

Case Study

53 countries were represented at the gathering in London for Heads of Governments from all over the Commonwealth; the largest UK Government function for 2018.

Applications to attend were made via an online registration portal, developed and managed by Glasgows Event Management. Glasgows are a premier Event Management company working out of Lancashire.

identilam were approached by the team at Glasgows to work with them on the task to provide over 20,000 accreditation badges for the event.

In short, our co-operation was an enormous success based on the “handshaking” between the identilam ID badging system and GEM, Glasgow’s front-end data collection portal.

Over 20,000 personalised accreditation badges and associated access overpasses, for specific buildings and meetings, were issued in a range of sizes and formats, for quick and easy recognition of the status and access rights of the badge holder.

GEM and Badge&Print  ‘talked’ via a secure API interface for exchange of key accreditation information, including complex data mapping to allow the software  to allocate one of over 30 sub-categories of badge type and link automatically to the relevant badge design.

The API interface process included auto-cropping photo images gathered via the portal to a size suitable for badging. After printing the badges at the local workstations, a print confirmation and the cropped photo file printed on the badge were uploaded up to the GEM cloud database, providing a 24/7 record of accreditation status.

This co-operative project showed just how flexible and seamless a solution can be developed using current secure API/handshaking technology and cutting edge registration and badging systems.
